Mambya Arts Foundation PRESENTS Act Africa Now Climate Change Awareness March.

 

November 4th 2022- A group of activists took to the streets of DOWN TOWN KAMPALA, as they raised awareness and brought knowledge/ information about climate change and Global Warming into the ears of people.

The march was led by OSCAR SENYONGA, a Climate Change Activist and a very well known/ respected Human Rights Defender/ Advocate in Uganda.

As early as 8am Participants had already started gathering at ARENA MALL, which is were the march set off from, by 9am activists and those in support of the cause had gathered in full swing ready to walk the good walk as they raise awareness all over downtown Kampala from NSYAMBYA all the way through Kisenyi.

Dressed in Green [ACT NOW AFRICA] t-shirts, carrying informative signposts about Climate Change they set off and immediately grasped the attention of pedestrians, street vendors, shop owners and even those in cars rolled down their windows to hear more about the movement.

Oscar Ssenyonga led front-row as he spoke energetically into the microphone informing people about climate change, the dangers and what they can each individually do to protect the earth we live in  

The movement received all kinds of reactions from those who were very unfamiliar with this subject but were curious to know more to those who didn’t care much for this movement stating that this was a responsibility for the Government and not them  

After walking for over 4 hours they finally stopped in Katwe and held a Press conference which was heavily attended by members of the Ugandan press from different Media houses such as;


DAILY MONITOR, NEW VISION, CHIMPREPORTERS, BABA TV, BUKEDDE TV and PRINT, MAMA FM etc

 

Oscar took to the stage to answer a couple of questions from the PRESS and voice his opinion on Climate Change as well as what plans he has to bring more awareness and what he is currently doing to help change the climate’s current state
